Manual Handling and Site Safety training

This mandatory training for all new crew members lasts 4 hours and covers the role of crewing, health & safety, site safety, and manual handling. Event-specific tasks include one-handed and two-handed stage deck lifting and moving, and stacking flight cases. This training is part of the interview process – if a crew member passes, they move on to a probation period where their performance is monitored closely over their first 50 hours of work. Support and guidance are provided as needed.

Technical Training

After completing 50 hours, crew members attend technical training. This session starts with a health & safety refresher, followed by hands-on training in:

  •  Tripod stands
  • Parabella stands
  • Fastfold screens
  • Pipe and drape
  • Cables (types, taping, coiling)
  • Ratchet straps
  • Truss
  • Ladders

Crew Chief training

In addition to first aid certification, all Crew Chiefs undergo specialised in-house training. This includes delivering tool box talks, managing crew and client relationships, performance management, developing skills in motivation, and conflict resolution.

Crew Carpenter Training

Crew carpenters undergo in-house training, which includes safe use of hand and power tools, building decks, applying carpet and fascia, and assembling flats with returns for housing fastfold screens, wrapping graphics and felt, and signage . All crew carpenters are equipped with a basic tool kit including a combi drill, impact driver, tape measure, hammer, and spirit level.

Crew AV Tech Training

For those pursuing roles as sound engineers or AV technicians and for clients needing crew to assist with shorter installs, derigs or operator support, selected crew members receive training in:

  • PA setup and breakdown
  • Cable management
  • Microphone types and RF Transmitters and Receivers
  • Mic’ing techniques
  • Projector setup
  • Flat screen setup and image alignment
  • Basic PowerPoint operation
